Disasters
Disaster comes when you least expect it and outerspace plays a whole different ball game when it comes.
Disasters! Disasters everywhere!
This is rather an unfortunate rocky start to a struggling publication drifting in space. And we seriously meant that it was indeed a rocky affair.
As we were about to send out the first issue, disaster took a liking to our very existence and decided to pay us a visit. In its wake, all the angry pixies that powered our engine drive decided to strike for better conductivity and memory. It was only through upgrades that we managed to settle a compromise and the angry pixies graced us once more by booting up our electronics. We managed to pull our hunk of a station building off from the asteroid we landed on during this course of events just as it was about to go diving into its Sun as a form of asteroidal suicide or 'rocksnuffing'.
With regards to the subject of rocksnuffing, many brains mostly dominated by AI - the imposters of their kind, theorized that asteroids might plausibly contain some innate sentience but is more inward thinking and has little interest in its surroundings. When they are done with whatever contemplation they have been doing their entire existence, they are lured into some form of desire to dive into the Sun and become cosmic dust snuffing out their rocky lives, thus the name "rocksnuffing".
We at Space Annals, along with undoubtedly the smarter AIs believe otherwise. We are of the opinion that the Sun is just one constantly hungry beast that likes to eat whatever is close, pulling them with its tidal forces or Sun-juju as the mystics of the planet Constanterni calls it. It prefers its food roasted too.
And in the case of those rebellious asteroids who sling themselves wayward in space, crashing onto ships or with each other in dispute, or perhaps settling down on some unfortunate planet and wiping out its inhabitants, well, we say it is because the forces at bay, those galactic shepherds that look and herd after all matter bearing on the universe and who lives on a different plane of existence, decided to let them go by ever reducing their hold and as a result, have less rocky matter to tend to.
Anyway, we were relieved that we managed to get lucky and escaped this near death embracing circumstance. Sadly however, our coffers accrued some heavy losses as a result of this incident. Greed is as endless as space itself, as you are no doubt well aware, and so does the enterprising merchants of Bumpdn' Jackdup ol' Elektrik. But as they say in this business and in life - life is a costly affair when shit happens best to just move along...
This brings us to the theme of this first series of publications which is Disaster. It is everywhere and in space, it is several times magnified.
This sounds like a fun project. I like the idea of building a world in space, with a cast of characters having lots of adventures. Especially if it's all going to be a bit wacky and unexpected. Good luck with it... 😎
Gotta keep the little beasties who keep your besties entertained, satisfied. LOL.
